If you have registered as a candidate there are some things that will help you get grey nomads jobs.
Here’s something important to know.
80% of jobs filled are never advertised.
That’s because most employers are like you and me. They want things now!
They go straight to the Browse Nomads Available section or do a Skills Search by Keyword to get in contact with someone they know can do the job.
If they don’t find anyone they might place an ad. Or they just might come back tomorrow and search again.
So for every job that is advertised, there are another 4 getting filled without you knowing about it.
So how does the smart nomads get grey nomads jobs?
- Register. You won’t have a hope if you can’t be found!
- Make sure you fill in at least something in your profile.
The minimum should be your Professional Headline.
This is the bit that employers see in the Browse Page.
So if you are a baker with 36 years experience all over Australia, I would suggest you put in: Baker with 36 years experience all over Australia!
In other words, tell them what you do. - You should also fill in the bit that says roughly where and when you intend being somewhere.
The really smart nomads who get grey nomads jobs first are the ones that say a LOT!
Let’s face it. Employers don’t want to waste time. It is easier for them to scan though a lot of information on your profile than to contact you and then find out that you don’t fit the bill.
So they go for the people who are detailed in their profile first.
And usually they find someone.
Why some people don’t get grey nomads jobs offers.
Now many people put in – “can do anything” or something similar. That’s a trap. Avoid it.
These employers already know you can do anything. They want to know if you can do something specific. They don’t search by a keyword that is “anything”.
Employers search with specifics such as “tinker” or “tailor” or “brain surgeon”.
So login and you will see My resume details. Click on the red (Edit) and enter or change your details.
Remember, 4 out of 5 jobs go to people who have provided lots of information in their profile.
Good luck. Have fun!
Oh, and a PS: The “Browse for Nomads” lists them in order of last updated. So if you want to be up near the top of the list, update regularly!
