Description
The Atherton Travellers Park is seeking a couple to live onsite at our caravan park in a caretaker role. This role is to commence as soon as possible but no later than December 1st, 2024.
We are looking for a couple who can between them manage 4-5 days a week doing cleaning and reception work as well as a 5 day a week handyman/grounds person role. This would be limited to 38hrs each per week and would be paid at the entry level award rate of $30.13/hr under the Hospitality award. An onsite 3-bedroom house will be provided with a greatly reduced rental charge (including Wi-Fi, water & electricity). Atherton Travellers Park is close to the centre of Atherton on the Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. It comprises of 24 cabins and 48 caravan/camping sites. We pride ourselves on being a great place to stay and would expect that the successful applicant/s would assist us in keeping this reputation.
This Park is currently for sale, but it will continue to be fully operational and run to a high standard and in a professional manner. Should this park change ownership there is a possibility that management will be kept in place.
This park is owned by Rock Ridge Farming Pty Ltd, and the cabins have been used for employee accommodation whilst the grounds also accommodated tourism. Rock Ridge Farming has recently built a purpose-built accommodation center at a different location for its employees. This is the sole reason this Park is now for sale. The cabins are mostly refurbished and are being returned to tourism rental and trade workers accommodation.
Your duties will include:
- Managing the reception area including answering phones and emails, taking bookings, checking guests in and out, taking payments, general upkeep and organising the cleaning staff.
- Regularly communicate with head office via phone and email
- Being comfortable with computers and eager to learn our “Cloud Beds” booking system
- Being reasonably available for after-hours callouts should guests need assistance
- Dealing with after-hours enquiries or complaints at the park (including addressing noise complaints)
- Assisting with general park maintenance (including pool maintenance, gardening, cabin maintenance, mowing etc.)
- Assisting with driving workers to and from various farm locations if required
- Park behaviour walk in the evenings
About the successful applicant/s:
- You must be physically able to assist with duties such as regular cleaning, gardening, on-foot site checks, raking, weeding, picking up rubbish, moving furniture etc. All relevant conditions or injuries must be disclosed.
- You are someone who enjoys being at home most of the time (someone who enjoys going on holidays for long periods of time would not be suitable for this position)
- You are available for after-hours callouts including all hours of the night/evening (unless you are on leave)
- You have great people skills and will develop good relationships with all residents and visitors at the park
- Hold a manual driver’s licence
- You are culturally sensitive and enjoy talking to people from different countries. (backpackers and seasonal workers from the Pacific Islands may reside here at times)
- You will be confident in conflict resolution and approaching people to address noise complaints, untidy cabins, unacceptable behaviour, evictions etc.
- You are energetic, willing to help with odd jobs and random tasks and have a good attitude
- You are willing to administer basic first aid for park guests and assist in emergency situations.
Highly desirable:
- Maintenance experience (such as handyman, electrician, carpenter etc to assist with general park maintenance)
- Previous receptionist experience
- Current First Aid and/or CPR certificate
This live-in position will not suit parents of dependent children. Non-residents and working holiday makers need not apply.
Our current caretakers will be available for training until 13th December 2024.
