POSITION TITLE
Hospitality All Rounder Couple
HOURS
Casual, 40 hours per week
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT
Mid-March to mid-April to October 12, 2025.
POSITION SUMMARY
Work across all areas of the station stay within housekeeping, café, kitchen, maintenance and reception. The position is key in providing a safe, quality experience for guests.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Leading Hand or Manager and works directly with 9 to 11 other station stay staff. It has no positions reporting to it.
EXPERIENCE
Essential - 6 months minimum hospitality work experience, i.e. housekeeping, kitchen hand, café service, barista, reception, maintenance, etc.
Desirable - Prior experience working in a remote location.

DUTIES
Include but are not limited to:
- Making sandwiches and packed lunches
- Assisting chefs with food preparation
- Serving in café
- Serving dinner guests
- Making barista coffees
- Washing dishes
- Servicing and cleaning guest rooms and tents
- Washing laundry
- Watering and mowing lawns
- Maintaining clean and tidy workspace across all areas of work
- Experience and interest dependent, duties may include guest check-ins/administration and general maintenance
- Machinery maintenance
Flexibility in your roles is appreciated as various other duties may arise you may be required for. We are open to tourists from 1 April to October 12, 2025, but remain open for corporate guests year-round which may include mining company exploration and rehabilitation crews, road workers, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS
- Excellent English skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to create a positive impression with a professional and courteous manner.
- Competent use of smart phone for various apps supporting the role.
- Excellent customer service skills with an ability to work with a wide range of clients.
PREFERENCES
We prefer our employees to be non-smokers, in a good measure of health and capable of lifting items up to 16 kg with ease. Due to the remote isolated area of Cheela Plains, information pertaining to pre-existing medical conditions such as Type 1 or 2 Diabetes, pre-existing back injury, etc is appreciated. PROPERTY/BUSINESS BACKGROUND
Cheela Plains Pastoral Co Pty Ltd is located at Cheela Plains Station, 174-176 Nanutarra-Munjina Road, Paraburdoo WA 6754. It is a working cattle station situated in an extremely isolated and remote location in the magnificent ancient landscape of the Pilbara region in Western Australia. There are no shops or restaurants nearby as the nearest town is 90 km away. The company operates three enterprises: beef farming, civil construction, and hospitality (Cheela Plains Station Stay). In addition, all accommodation and meals are available for staff.
CHEELA PLAINS STATION STAY, offers an ideal stop over along the long 669 km trip between the world heritage listed Ningaloo Reef and Karijini National Park. Meals and full catering packages are available for company staff and guests in the Red Plains Café/dining room all year round. Customers range from tourists to corporate guests from the resources mining exploration sector and/or road works. Cheela Plains Station Stay is also a welcome safety rest stop for travellers whether passing through the area for work or holiday. Travelers may stop briefly to break their long journey to utilize the amenities, enjoy a coffee or snack from the Red Plains Café while checking messages on the ever-precious mobile coverage, or choose to stay for one or more nights to intimately experience the magnificent beauty of the Pilbara landscapes. The facilities include a large oval lawn with 28 campsites, 31 rooms that utilize shared amenities and 4 ensuite rooms. The Red Plains Café is open from 7:00am-2:00pm daily offering breakfast, lunch, coffee, cake, toasties, fruit, sandwiches and soft drinks just to name a few. Dinner is served daily at 6:30pm. Guest attractions include 4X4 self-drive gorge safaris, walking trails, vast 360-degree views from the epic Sunset and Cave lookouts, dark sky viewing and happy hour around the iconic Red Plains campground fire pit. The Station Stay is open to corporate guests year-round and open to tourists seasonally from April to October.
