Camp Hosts 2025
CHEELA PLAINS STATION STAY, in the remote outback Pilbara region of Western Australia, offers an ideal stop over between the World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef and Karijini National Park. The facilities include a large oval lawn with 28 campsites, 17 semi-permanent tents, 24 rooms that utilize shared amenities and 7 ensuite rooms. In addition, there are 13 wilderness campsites located at the Beasley Gorge. The Station Stay is open to corporate guests year-round and open to tourists seasonally from April to October. The Red Plains Café is open from 7:00am-2:00pm daily and is a popular rest stop for passing travellers. Customers range from tourists to corporate guests from the resources sector and/or road workers. Guest attractions include 4X4 self-drive safaris, walking trails, vast 360-degree views from the epic Sunset and Cave lookouts, dark sky viewing and the iconic Red Plains campground fire pit.
Position
Camp Hosts play an important part in welcoming guests to our unique outback station stay and looking after the Red Plains campground of 28 powered and unpowered campsites. Own caravan is required. Hosts are expected to work 6 days per week and are rotated through approximately 9-week rotations. The prosposed rotation for 2025 is:
April 1 – June 2
June 3 – August 4
August 5 – October 6
Conditions
- All meals are provided as per the Staff Meal Policy
- Own air conditioned caravan required
- Powered campsite for the agreed number of weeks
- Two staff uniform shirts (one to keep upon departure pending minimum 6-week tenure)
- Access to station gorges
- Free use of the washing machine
- Volunteer position
