DAY TOUR GUIDE

This position is available for the first time in 8 years so don`t miss the opportunity, we are a small company who value staff and pay good rates.
We are looking for a guide to operate our 1-day tours from Darwin to Corroboree Billabong this upcoming season. Our day tour also includes a 2.5-hour wildlife cruise on the beautiful Corroboree Billabong Wetlands located 105 km from town.
A current boat licence is not a requirement for the position as we are able to provide the necessary on-site training required for you to operate the boat cruise. We operate small group tours, and our vehicle carries a maximum of 20 passengers.
POSITION DETAILS
The position is seasonal 5 days/week and would commence from 1st May through until the 23rd October. There are no early starts as your day will start at 8am and you will be home by 6pm. It`s a very easy day, visiting Fogg Dam and then running a 2.5-hour wildlife cruise on the wetlands.
Previous guiding experience is essential.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Guides must be able to interact with the passengers in a friendly, professional, and fun manner as people skills are essential for this position and we want passengers to have had a great experience. Guides need to have knowledgeable on the surrounding natural environment and be passionate about working on the wetlands in a beautiful environment. They also need to have an ability to learn and retain information provided on Darwin history, plants, birds, crocodiles, wildlife, geography, and other specific information about the wetlands.
LISENCES REQUIRED
The position requires the guide to have or be willing to obtain the following licences and certificates.
- LR Drivers licence
- "H" endorsement to carry passengers - involves medical and criminal history check.
- 1st Aid certificate
- We will provide you with the basic training required to operate the boat cruise. Applicants with a current coxswain’s ticket will not need to do this training.
MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Picking up and dropping off passengers from Darwin and surrounds
- Driving from Darwin to Corroboree Billabong via Fogg Dam and return.
- Conducting a 2.5 hour wildlife cruise on Corroboree Billabong.
- Providing information to passengers during the drive and wetland cruise.
- Organising lunches and iced drinking water for passengers.
- Filling in vehicle/boat logbooks.
- Refuelling tour vehicle and boat fuel tanks.
- Cleaning vehicle and boat after cruises and day tours are finished.
- Ticketing and money handling, collecting receipts and vouchers, gathering correct passenger details, checking passengers on cruise and vehicle manifests to ensure everyone is accounted for.
